Stephanie was born and raised in the Wichita Kansas area. She comes from a large family and has seven siblings. In the late 1970’s she spent four years living in Europe in both England and Germany. She lived in the California Mojave Desert town of Ridgecrest for 20 years. She and her husband Norm lived in Hudson, Massachusetts a town near Boston prior to retiring and moving to Brighton , Colorado in 2010.
Always interest in drawing as a child, Art was her favorite subject in school. Most of her creative outlets over the years were in the area of tole painting, furniture refinishing, and any other hobby that caught her interest. She has taken oil painting classes right here at Main Street Creatives from both Judith Dickinson and Jeremiah White and still works in this medium.
Although interested in stained glass, she spent time raising her family and working in the school system in Ridgecrest. Once her children were raised and off to college, she pursued her interest in glass art. She quickly discovered that although she liked the look of stained glass, she preferred the challenge and excitement she found working with warm glass.
Stephanie has been working in warm glass also referred to as fused glass, for over twenty years. She took classes at Snow Farm in New England and joined the Glass Guild in New England while living there. She has taken classes from well-known glass artists such as Patty Grey, Anne Nye, Paul Messink and Nathan Sandburg. In a recent class taught by Shelley Long she discovered a love for enamel painting on glass. Working with enamels married her love of oil painting and playing with glass.
Stephanie has participated in the Art at the Armory, the Art in The Park and at the Echter’s Glass show in the fall with the Glass Artist’s of Colorado.
She currently displays her glass creations at Main Street Gallery.
